ADSB Aircraft Tracking

The Map functionality in the LAIT911 Mobile App now tracks aircraft throughout the Los Angeles area. This premium feature is accessible to all users on our premium billing plan. You can view your current billing plan, upgrade your account, or claim a free trial here.

You must have version v1.4 (iOS) or v.1.4.1 (Android) of the mobile app for this feature to be available. You can check your current version by navigating to the bottom of the settings page within the app.

What aircraft is displayed in the app?

Aircraft owned and operated by public safety agencies (such as LAPD, CHP, LAFD, or LA County Fire) will display their real-time location on the map when available. In addition, known media helicopters will be displayed on the map.

How is the map color-coded?

  • Police - BLUE
  • Fire - RED
  • Media - GREEN

Why is [x] missing from the map?

If an aircraft falls into the categories of Police, Fire, or Media and still doesn't display on the map it could be for one of a few reasons.

  • We don't have them in our database
    • This will improve significantly over time.
  • They turn their ADSB transmitter off or hide their call sign/reg number.
    • This can be common with law enforcement aircraft, especially LAPD.

If you see an aircraft belonging to a public safety agency or a media organization on another aircraft tracking platform or app, send a screenshot that includes the current location and registration number and any additional information you have to hello@LAIT911.com.

How often is the map updated?

Aircraft location update frequency varies depending on multiple factors such as the seasonal cycle, whether there are any active major incidents, and amount of aircraft currently in the sky. In short, aircraft positions update on average every five seconds.

What makes the LAIT911 Aircraft Tracking feature different from other apps?

We're dedicated to providing a streamlined experience. We exclusively display aircraft related to public safety incidents. We understand that sifting through a map with over 100 aircraft, encompassing commercial flights and recreational flyers, can be unwieldy and overwhelming when searching for information.

LAIT911 simplifies the process by automatically filtering, categorizing, and labeling aircraft, allowing you to easily access additional details by clicking on any aircraft on the map. You can also view nearby LAFD, LA County Fire, or CHP incidents for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
