Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs the use of the LAIT911 mobile applications available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as the web-based application accessible at https://app.lait911.org (collectively, the “Service”).
The Service is operated by Southern California Wildfire Response, doing business as LAIT911 (“LAIT911,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
1. Scope and Applicability
This AUP applies to all users, including:
- Free and paid users
- Mobile and web users
- Logged-in and any publicly visible usage
There are no exceptions based on subscription status.
Violations of this AUP may result in immediate termination of access to the Service without notice, refund, or appeal.
2. Permitted Use
The Service is intended for personal, individual use only.
Use of the Service for any purpose other than personal use is considered commercial use, regardless of:
- Entity type (company, nonprofit, government, academic, media, etc.)
- Organization size
- Whether the use is revenue-generating
Commercial use is not permitted unless explicitly authorized in writing by LAIT911.
3. Commercial Use and Data Access
Commercial use includes, but is not limited to:
- Republishing or redistributing Service content
- Using Service data in reports, products, dashboards, or media
- Internal organizational use
- Research, analysis, or aggregation for non-personal purposes
Bulk Data and API Access
- Downloading, exporting, scraping, or collecting data in bulk is strictly prohibited
- Manual and automated bulk access are equally prohibited
- Any access to bulk data or APIs requires explicit written authorization and an executed agreement with LAIT911
Unauthorized commercial or bulk use will result in immediate termination.
4. Prohibited Automation and Technical Abuse
You may not, under any circumstances:
- Use bots, scripts, crawlers, scrapers, or automated tools
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or probe the Service
- Interfere with Service infrastructure or availability
All automation is prohibited unless expressly authorized under a formal API or data agreement.
5. Account Security and Password Sharing
Each user must have their own individual account.
Password sharing is strictly prohibited, including sharing with:
- Family members
- Coworkers or organizations
- Teams or internal groups
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account, including unauthorized use resulting from failure to secure credentials.
Violations result in immediate termination without refund.
6. User-Submitted Content
Users may submit content including reports, comments, images, or other materials (“User Content”). User Content may be publicly visible.
You are solely responsible for all User Content you submit.
You must not submit content that:
- Is false, misleading, or intentionally deceptive
- Impersonates emergency responders, officials, or LAIT911
- Could reasonably cause public confusion, panic, or harm
- Violates laws or the rights of others
- Interferes with emergency operations or public safety
7. Moderation and Enforcement
LAIT911 moderates content using a combination of automated systems and human review.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:
- Remove, restrict, edit, or disable any content
- Suspend or terminate accounts
- Take enforcement action without notice or explanation
There is no appeals process.
Content or accounts may be removed for safety, operational, legal, or reputational reasons, including situations involving active or potential public safety risk.
8. Prohibited Conduct
The Service must not be used to engage in, facilitate, or promote:
- Illegal activity of any kind
- Harassment, abuse, or discrimination
- Impersonation or misrepresentation
- Spam or unsolicited messaging
- Distribution of malicious software or code
- Attempts to access accounts or systems without authorization
- Violations of privacy or consumer protection laws
- Content depicting or promoting violence, child exploitation, or threats to health and safety
The Service may not be used by individuals or entities involved in or affiliated with activities relating to terrorism, illegal gambling, narcotics trafficking, arms trafficking, or weapons of mass destruction.
9. Impersonation and Misrepresentation
You may not:
- Impersonate LAIT911 or its staff
- Represent an affiliation, endorsement, or partnership with LAIT911 that does not exist
- Use LAIT911 branding, data, or identity to gain trust, access, or credibility
Unauthorized representation will result in immediate termination.
10. Legal Reporting and Cooperation
In cases involving illegal activity, public safety risk, or legal obligation, LAIT911 may:
- Report users to law enforcement or regulatory authorities
- Provide relevant account information, content, and associated metadata
- Do so without notice to the user
11. No Service Credits or Refunds
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- No refunds or credits are issued for enforcement actions
- No refunds are issued for interruptions or loss of access resulting from violations of this AUP
12. Policy Updates
We may update this AUP at any time by publishing a revised version.
The revised policy becomes effective on the earlier of:
- Your continued use of the Service after publication, or
- 30 days after publication
