Troubleshooting Push Notifications

Push notifications are an easy and nearly instantaneous way to receive alerts for incidents taking place in real-time. However, if you're not receiving notifications, here are a few things you can try in the recommended order.

1) Ensure you have notifications enabled in LATI911.

Navigate to the bell icon in the lower menu bar, and ensure that you have any of the top four buttons toggled on.

If you have "Notify for followed incident type" or "Notify for followed apparatus", also ensure that you have an "Enabled Bureau" toggled on, and an incident type or apparatus in your following list.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Home Alerts & Background Location only trigger for significant incidents and within a location range. You may not be receiving alerts as there are no events taking place that meet the criteria for an alert.
  • It is highly recommended that you don't log in to LAIT911 on more than one device as it may cause issues regarding background location notifications.
Distance from incident # of responding units
656ft (200m) 3 or more
1969ft / .37mi (600m) 5 or more
3281ft / .62mi (1000m) 10 or more
6562ft / 1.2mi (2000m) 20 or more
Home & Neighboring Zipcode (Home Alert) 25 or more

Geolocation alerts will be sent for dispatches of a Shooting Victim, Cutting Victim, or Stabbing Victim within a 600m radius of the incident, regardless of the # of responding units.

Additional alerts may be triggered at the direction of our incident analyst team.

Notifications that we send are logged with a username, incident id, and timestamp. For troubleshooting purposes, you can reach out to the LAIT911 Support Team to see if we've attempted to notify you/your device of any of these incidents.

2) Ensure both Push Notifications and Geolocation are enabled in your device settings.

For Geolocation alerts, background location must be enabled. To ensure background location is enabled, use the following steps.

iPhone:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Navigate to Privacy & Security
  • Navigate to Location Services
  • Navigate to LAIT911
  • Ensure Allow Location Access is set to Always and Precise Location is toggled on.

For all alerts, push notifications must be enabled. To make sure push notifications are enabled in your device settings, follow the following steps.

iPhone:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Navigate to Notifications
  • Navigate to LAIT911
  • Ensure that Allow Notifications is toggled.
  • Immediate Delivery is checked
  • Alerts has Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banner checked.

3) Ensure Low Battery Mode is toggled off and your device is charged.

With respect to battery life, LAIT911 is unable to update your location when your phone is in a low battery or power-saving mode. Notifications may be delayed significantly, or be inaccurately sent if you're device is in this state.

4) Delete the application and re-install

If you're still not receiving notifications at this point, the next best step is to delete the device and re-install from the App Store or Google Play Store. During initial login, carefully select the prompts to allow for Background Location (Always) and enabled push notifications.

5) Contact Support
